An independent lottery information hub for Canada
Who we are
Social lotteries in Canada, explained simply
In Canada, a social lottery is a format where ticket revenue supports both prizes and community causes. These lotteries are overseen by provincial regulators and run only with formal approval, with clear rules and accountability.
Players buy tickets and the proceeds are split: one share becomes the prize pool, the other is set aside for community programs. Alongside cash or non-cash prizes, funding can support healthcare, mental health services, education, youth and seniors’ initiatives, rehabilitation, sport development, and cultural projects. Eligible nonprofits can apply for support.
At heart, Canada’s social lottery model is a two-for-one: a chance to win while backing projects that might otherwise struggle for resources.
